We are not affiliated with the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Supreme Council of Antiquities, or any Egyptian government or tourism body. We do not sell museum tickets, arrange tours, make reservations, or facilitate any commercial transaction of any kind.
Cairo Culture Compass exists because reliable, independent, non-commercial information about Egypt's major monuments and museums is genuinely difficult to find. Most available content is produced by institutions with promotional intent, travel aggregators with commercial motivation, or individual bloggers working from partial information.
We set out to create something different: a platform that covers Egypt's cultural heritage honestly, in depth, and without any commercial interest in how visitors engage with it. No tours to sell, no tickets to move, no hotels to recommend. Pure educational content, written from direct experience and checked against the best available scholarly sources.
Cairo Culture Compass is based in Cairo and covers the full range of the city's major cultural institutions alongside the Giza plateau. Our practical guidance is tested in practice, not assembled from other websites. We update our content regularly and welcome corrections from readers with specialist knowledge.
